Mam Cocktail is West Africa’s premier
processing facility that specializes in adding value to local agricultural
crops resulting in fresh fruit juices and traditional specialties like degue
(native millet pearls mixed with home made yogurt.)
The familial name Mam refers to Mrs Mariam Sow, the Pehl
mother of Mam Cocktail’s guiding founder, Mrs Oumou Diallo Sissoko. In 1996,
Mrs Sissoko responded to the requests of a group of young, Malian women to
create a company to process West Africa’s abundant tropical
fruits into fresh fruit juices for sale in the local markets. Together, the
women launched Mam Cocktail - a small company founded on the principles of
solidarity and women’s empowerment.
Today, Mam Cocktail also prepares in its HACCP certified
processing facility Yogurt and Degue (Degue is also known as Thiakry in
neighboring Senegal.)
Degue is a traditional specialty enjoyed throughout West Africa
and is one of the mainstay dishes of the nomadic Peulh people of West
Africa. It is also renowned throughout the Peuhl culture for its
magical powers which embolden the African woman to maintain a passionate
husband!
